What is bacteriostatic water?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative, supplied in a multiple-dose vial. We stock it two ways: our own-label vials in 10, 20 and 30 mL, labelled not for injection or infusion, and the factory-sealed 30 mL manufacturer presentation, labelled as a diluent or solvent for compatible drugs that require preparation before injection. Read the label of the presentation you choose.
Is BAC water the same as bacteriostatic water?
Yes. BAC water is simply the common abbreviation for bacteriostatic water — the two terms refer to the same product. You may also see it written as bacteriostatic water for injection, BWFI, or bac water. All describe sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative, supplied as a multi-dose diluent.
Is the water injected by itself?
No. It is not a ready-to-administer medicine. The manufacturer product information warns that intravenous administration without a solute may cause haemolysis. Product selection and use must follow the vial label, manufacturer product information and qualified healthcare-professional direction.
How quickly will my order ship?
Orders placed before 1 pm Melbourne time on a business day are dispatched the same business day; orders placed after the cutoff, or on weekends and public holidays, are dispatched the next business day. Delivery estimates are a guide only and are not guaranteed — Express typically arrives within 1–3 business days and Standard within 2–6 business days after dispatch.
